Houses - New Names

There has been a new vote amongst students to rename our house teams.

This has been mainly driven by senior children, but junior children took part too. The results are as follows.

STANHOPE—PURPLE—is now TURING
WELLINGTON—RED—is now NIGHTINGALE
MONTGOMERY—YELLOW—is now SEACOLE
MARLBOROUGH—BLUE—PANKHURST

These historical people made many contributions in their lives, however, a brief summary of them are:

Alan Turing—Instrumental in breaking the Enigma code in World War II.

Florence Nightingale—Founder of modern nursing.

Emmeline Pankhurst—Organising the UK suffragette movement and helping women win the right to vote.

Mary Seacole—Nursed wounded soldiers back to health in the Crimean war. There are also some suggestions that Mary Seacole came to Aldershot after the Crimean War.

The new house names will come into effect in September.
