Additional Information
- Alderwood is an early adopter of the Gatsby Benchmarking tool called Compass and we work closely with our partners to ensure that Alderwood is constantly improving its careers programme
- Pupils have access to impartial careers and guidance which is provided by Hampshire Futures and The Careers and Enterprise Company
- Pupils have access to the full range of Post 16 pathways and are supported to make appropriate choices
- This is done through taster sessions with different colleges, independent training centres and apprenticeship providers
- Pupils receive appropriate support with applications to the post 16 route of their choice
- Parents can request support where they feel their child may become NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training)
- Pupils are supported at all ages and stages by a range of activities that ensure they meet the required ‘7 encounters with employers’. This is supported by a variety of employers and we work hard to give our pupils experience of meeting with a range of different professions and experience of different workplaces
- Alderwood is proud of its links with HEON (Higher Education Outreach Network) which is based at Surrey University. HEON gives support with links to Further Education providers as well as Higher Education Providers. They also support our pupils in the lead up to exams and will work with them to ensure that they have the skills needed to succeed
